Man Mo Temple

By evisa  |  June 04, 2019

Man Mo Temple is the oldest house of worship in the island. God "Man" and God "Mo", notable for the god of literature and the god of war respectively, share the temple. Visitors will be confronted by the dense pall of smoke from the incense coils hanging from the ceiling and the burning joss sticks. The gold-plated sedan chair are used for carring the gods' statues around the neighbourhood at religious ceremonies.

Locals offer chickens, fruit or incense sticks to the gods. Some have their fortunes told using bamboo sticks (call "chim").
